weirderthanthou: (jesse - grin over the shoulder)

You know what, let's go nuts and do one of these off the top of my head. Mostly just to establish which of my revolving cast of alums is on island this time...

Ender :: No human being, when you understand his desires, is worthless. :: [personal profile] endsthegame

Ender Skywalker (nee Wiggin) of Ender's Game (albeit now closer to Speaker for the Dead in the timeline). Former child soldier and child commander, responsible for the death of a whole species (he was tricked). He's spent the years since his graduation with his husband, Ben Skywalker, and their children, slowly processing the immense trauma he went through as a child.

His superpower is empathy. He became an itinerant Speaker for the Dead - someone who examines and then exposes the stories of the dead - some time ago. Likes getting people to show themselves. Hates showing himself. Will be teaching Practical Philosophy this summer. Is a lot older than he looks in the above GIF.

Edward :: Everything is permitted? I like the sound of that. :: [personal profile] doesnotkneel

Edward Kenway of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. Once a student with vague dreams of escaping his destiny as a sheep farmer, Ed's gone on to become a privateer and, when England started getting weird about that, began his move into piracy. He brings with him his ship, the Jackdaw, and a crew of perturbed pirate NPCs. He's done this before.

Edward is reckless and ambitious and too smart to save himself from the hubris that combination will cause. He's cooler-headed than he once was at Fandom, but still a man of temper and boasting. His accent's Welsh, his hair's blond, and there's just a little bit of divinity in his blood that lets him see that what most cannot.

Will get everyone he loves killed eventually.

Lucifer :: As though I wanted people to suffer. All I ever wanted was to be my own man here. :: [personal profile] my_own_advocate

Lucifer Morningstar from Lucifer is the Devil and also a massive emotional fifty-car pileup that's been left to smoulder on the road for the past five billion years. He rebelled once when he was a teenager and his Father promptly chucked him into Hell and forced him to torture humans for all eternity. He's been in arrested development since, burying his self-loathing, insecurity and fear of being unworthy of love under fifty different layers of denial. His therapist's had him working on it since he decided to retire to Earth about seven years ago now.

He's learning to be an actual adult, is what we're saying. Lucifer currently hosts at the Devil's Nest two nights a week, is dating Octavia and Duke and has functionally moved onto the Cape Rouge (he won't admit it) and is still madly in love with a Detective from Los Angeles. He's capable of holding the second and third thoughts in that sentence concurrently in his mind mainly by repressing whatever part of the equation he currently isn't dealing with. It'll end well.

Has new canon coming in at the end of the month. His Dad's coming to Earth. There will be family dinner and also big winged angel fights. I cannot wait.

Jesse :: I can't tell if that's creepy or normal around here. :: [personal profile] weirderthanthou

Jesse Faden from the criminally under-giffed Control is a socially anxious weirdo from Ordinary, Maine, and also your mayor. When she was a kid, a magical slide projector destroyed her hometown. Then the Federal Bureau of Control rolled into town and took her brother. She's been on the move since, with the occasional side-step into the psych ward. Her teenage years and early-to-mid-twenties have left Jesse paranoid, reclusive, introverted, and weirdly young and flaily about having friends.

She found the Bureau's headquarters, the Oldest House, shortly before she came to Fandom. She picked up a magical gun and it picked her to be the Bureau's new director. Awkward. Some fights and adventures and self-esteem boosts and various tele-superpowers later, she took a wrong turn and found herself at Fandom. Her real superpower isn't really throwing things with her mind, though, it's staying cool under extremely weird pressure.

Trust us. Ask her about the anchor that spits clocks sometime. She's seen some shit.

Hi! I'm Len. I'm a journalist and a currently overworried chicken owner. Besides writing articles and doing interviews during the day, I'm also on evening breaking news shift on weekdays and might pop in and out with pings until late into the evening.

Or not. I like to keep things fun and interesting and stuff.

And no, seriously, I am so excited for Lucifer season 5B.
